One of my meditation teachers said, “You will not stay where you are not welcome.”
This is the heart understanding that lies at the centre of most meditation practices.
In my experience, we are already that which we seek. Our reality is already simply in the moment. Our body, our organs, even our mind is mostly silent. But there is a small part of the mind that gives us, sometimes, a negative opinion of what’s going on. This is learnt from our parents, or cultural understanding, position in life, or some bad experiences. The problem is that we give this part of us 100% of our attention.
Meditation, whether it is in movement or in stillness, helps us to come back to the 90% that simply is. This then can hold the 10% that is not. And then the correct and healthy balance has been reached. From here we can be present with our wounds. From here we can take the hand, as an elder, of our child and together go forward.
I will help you to understand this. I will give you a simple practice you can do and help you to develop a place and a time so that you can bring this into your life. Over a series of meetings your understanding and practice is confirmed till you are able to go on your own. It is then that I have done my job of giving you back to yourself.
